Secondment of Rupert Perkins, Christopher Williamson, Ewa Poniecka and Bruno JesusFrom CU and UN to MAU

Previous work in WP4 has shown upregulation of Haslea diatom productivity. This has important consequences for upscaling to bioreactor production, as key aim of the overreaching project. However, it is essential to determine if this is true upregulation of productivity (carbon fixation) and also an increase in marennine blue pigment production. The objective of this secondment was to investigate this further using optode measurements of oxygen production and associated measurements of marennine and polymer production and to further investigate the mechanisms of this upregulation.

In addition, Bruno Jesus’ goal was to develop an R package to process FRRF fluorometry data that could be used to pair oximetry data and that could be made available to the scientific community.
